TITLE: The title is placed at the bottom of the poster in a central location. The font is a blood red colour connoting the horror and danger within the film, it is also a serif font compared to the other text on the poster, which are sans-serif, making it stand out as the title. It is also significantly larger than the other text.
Other text on the page includes the slogan, date and credits. These are all in sans-serif fonts making them sharp and simple so that they are clear.
SLOGAN: He knows where you sleep.
The slogan is located centrally above the title. This is unusual for other film genre posters but a common convention for horror/thriller posters. The slogan itself is short and simple but also gives off a scary effect. It insinuates that the killer is able to get to you at all points because he knows 'where you sleep' and where you are at most times. The slogan, date and credits are all coloured white to make the main title stand out.
MAIN IMAGE: The main image is the absolute focus of the poster, it is the centre of attention and draws peoples attention in. Both main characters are in a central location making them to main eye point. The light shining in through the back window could signify a light of hope for the young girl character, but as the attacker is standing in the way blocking the light, he connotes that he is blocking any glimmer of hope she has of being able to stay safe. The black border around the edge focus' on the centre.
COLOUR SCHEME: The colour palette consists of reds, orange and black. The red colours connote danger, horror and blood. The black connotes the darkness of the story and that there is little place for the girl to hide.
CHARACTERS: Two characters are shown on the movie poster leading the audience to believe that these are the main two characters, typically the attacker and the victim. The first character is placed higher up, looking down upon the other character connoting a position of power and authority leading us to believe that this is the attacker rather than the victim. The second character appears vulnerable and innocent as she is smaller than the first character and placed lower down. There is more focus of authority of the first character whilst the girl is shown with a lost, sad, scared facial expression. It appears as though she is surrounded by a pool of blood signifying her possible troubles throughout the film and the consequences of what may happen to her. This draws the audiences attention to want to find out whether she survives or not. There is not much focus on the weapon like in some horror movie posters however it can still be spotted. The first characters face is covered so not to show the audience who the attacker is, consequently giving away part of the storyline.
