My Film Company Logos
These are my film company logos that will feature shortly in the trailer to show who the film has been produced by. I plan on drawing them on the computer using a Graphics Tablet on Adobe Flash so that I can make them slightly animated.
Film Company Names
I have decided my two film company names will be Waking Dream and Dream Bay Productions. I am now in the process of designing their logo's. This relates to my trailer because throughout any genre trailer the company involved in the production of the films logo is shown.

Film Company Logo's
Before I start designing my company film logos I have gathered a few already made ones to gain some insparation.
7 PONIES PRODUCTIONS: I like the fact that the camera film is included in the logo linking with the cinema.
COMPUTER FILM COMPANY: Again the camera film is included in the logo. The fact it is simple and black and white making it look simple but still showing exactly what it needs to.
DREAM STREET PICTURES: Dream Street Pictures has not included the camera film in their logo however it still has a good logo. I like the three different colours together and the ghosty effect of the perspective road.
MIRAMAX FILMS: Miramax films is a basic logo again only black and white. I like the fact that Miramax is so bold and stands out allowing people to remember the company name.
PARAMOUNT: Paramount is one of the most known logo's. I like the font for paramount and the stars round the circle. It is different to the other logos because it included a lot of colour and an image.
REEL FARM: Reel Farm has a great logo because they have linked both the cinema and farm theme together. I like the fact that the image has included the camera reels and a tractor.

From these logos I have decided that I want my image logo to link in with the name of my company. It will most likely be a black background with white writing because I feel that this stands out well. I also like the idea of including in the image either a Camera Reel or a Camera Film.

Video Editing
I have begun editing my videos on Premiere Pro and am currently playing around and finding out what different things I can do to enhance my trailer even further. I have discovered that by Rendering my video's it reduces the lag allowing them to move smoothly rather than jump.
The Sepia effect is one that has really stood out to me so far as it gives some of my clips a great eerie feeling and shows the uncertainty of the scene.
Magazine name Poll
I have created a Poll to decide my film magazine name. I am currently waiting for feedback.
This is the email I sent to ask part of my target audience for their feedback.
This is the poll located on the right hand side of my blog.
Ancillary Task 1 - Magazine Front Cover

Focus Group
Due to some travelling and time issues I have had to conduct my focus group over the phone whilst emailing them the footage to look at. I have written all their feedback down here;
I plan on creating another focus group where I can videotape the feedback that my target audience gives.

Focus Group
Today I am conducting a focus group of people that would fit my target audience. I am going to show them some of the footage I had shot so far and ask for their opinions. Once I have all the results I will upload them to my blog.
Problems/Issues
I have began filming and found that finding the exact lighting I want is very difficult and that I am going to have to rely on editing to make some of my shots perfect. I will begin my editing next week using Adobe Premiere Pro.

Possible Fonts?
These are four possible fonts I am going to use for my trailer text. To help me decide I am going to show them to a range of my target audience and have them decide which is the best option.
Sound Recordings
I recorded some sounds that I could use in my trailer

Thriller Research
CAMERA;
From my research I have found that establishing shots have been used in many thriller trailers as too set the scene so this something I will definitely include in my trailer. Long Shots, Mid Shots, Close Ups and Extreme Close Ups are all also commonly used in thriller trailers.
The two most commonly used shots are mid shots and close ups as these portray the emotion and generally fear of the character. The eyes can clearly be seen in a close up which is where a lot of emotion is portrayed and also evil is shown.
Low and High Angles are significantly used throughout a thriller to show the everchanging power of a character. Those filmed using a high angle are seen to be less powerful and those filmed using a Low Angle are seen to be the most dominant and in charge. From my research I also found that Eye Level was used a lot in thrillers to show a whole set of what is going on in the scene.

Storyboard
This is my first storyboard that I plan to follow however when filming I may make a few changes or add extra's.
The first section of my storyboard shows the beginning of the trailer. I have decided to start my trailer off with an establishing shot as I found from my research that this was a convention that most thriller/horror trailers used. I want my second scene to fade in and set the scene of the trailer but showing all of the characters involved except for the killer. In this scene I also plan to have the mobile phone sound effect to alert the audience that someone has received a message. The third scene shows the Father to be reading the text and showing the emotion of shock or worry. This implies that something about the text was unusual. The next scene shows a close up of the eyes quickly to again express the emotion in the characters face. A black screen will then quickly flash up to show a different setting and the start of a darker eeriness. I plan to film the next scene in daylight to show the normality of the scene as it only shows the girl leaving her house; however as the scenes go on I plan for them to get slightly darker creating more of an atmosphere. Scene number 8 shows the first shot of the 'psycopath'. The character will be stood watching the victim as she enters the woods and will have a costume of fully black clothing to blend in with the darkness. The character will have the hood placed up and draped over their face so that the audience doesn't already know who he/she is. The scene will be set in the woods with dark lighting. Scene number 9 involves the father or mother recieving a text message which is threataning making the audience correctly assume that the messages are coming from the hooded figure they saw in the woods allowing them to understand the storyline more. A series of close ups will be used for dramatic effect to show the text message on the phone. I have not yet decided the what the message will say exactly but I will include this in my script when I upload it. In scene 10 the tone suddenly changes to fast paced and scary. A dolly shot/hand held shot is used to show the trailer from the victims POV. Sound effects of heavy breathing and footsteps will be included in this scene. Scenes 10-12 show the more action side to the trailer; these scenes will be the most fast paced. Scene number 11 shows the victim inside the 'psycopaths' hut in the woods - this is the first time the audience are introduced to this location. This scene will be set in evening lighting so it is dark enough in the woods for the scene but still clear enough to be able to see what is going on. There will be a zoom into the hut and then a sudden flash of light showing the eyes. The next scene shows a sruggle between the victim and the psycopath. I plan for this to be in the woods in a dark setting so you can see the outline of the two but not giving too much away - this would make the audience want to find out if the victim survived the struggle.
Actors, Locations, Props & Equipment
Actors:
Emma Davis - I chose Emma as an actor because she is young and therefore vulnerable. I also know that she will be there whenever I need her to be for filming meaning I dont have to work a schedule around hers.
The costume I have chosen for Emma is very typical to her age. The white of her dress represents her innocence, vulnerability and naivety. The pink cardigan adds a pop of colour and is something significant in the trailer.

I have not yet chosen my actor for the killer however I am currently deciding exactly what I want this character to do, say and look like.
My locations can be found in the previous post
PROPS: Props I plan on using currently are:
An Axe
Pink Cardigan
Mobile Phone
Black Hoodie
EQUIPMENT:
To film the trailer and to take my location photos I am using a Sanyo Xacti Full HD 10 mega 1920x1080 camera. I may also be using a tripod for some shots.

Initial Ideas
My initial idea for my trailer is to have a storyline based on a missing girl, a serious of threats and a hostage/killer. I can work this storyline into a trailer by filming shots of the girl and her normal life to introduce us to her, the threats, her being taken and what bits of what happens when she is taken. I have created a storyboard for my first trailer idea and this will be uploaded in one of my next blog posts. There is not much narrative involved in my trailer so I have not yet typed up a script however I will do once I have decided finally on all of the dialogue involved.
Above is my first idea of a location for where the hostage will be shown to have been kept. I chose this location because it has been abandoned for years and is located in a hidden part of the woods giving it a very creepy eerie feel. It is a small hut enclosed all the way round with occasional gaps in the wood, as seen in the photo, and a swinging door entrance with a lock.
Another location I plan on using is the Lords Woods wooded area. From my research I found that the woods was a popular location used in thriller/horror movies. I went down into the woods and tested the location and found that you could get some great sound effects and shots from down there.I went during the evening time around 7:00pm as it was still light enough outside to get a clear but dark shot although once going into the woods it was too dark to be able to see the shots clearly so I plan on going early to film now.

My third location is for the victims home. I have chosen to use this house because it has a great and obvious looking driveway - easy access for the 'killer' and also a great looking shot which clearly shows the victim leaving or entering her house. My home looked too hard to get into and was too close to the Lords Woods location so I got permission and used my friends house up the road.
I'm not using my house for the home location because you can see the woods located right behind and their are too many obstacles in the way of the actual house shot e.g the wall and the car which no longer runs so we are unable to move. This means the shots of the victim leaving the house would not look as good as clean as I would like.
